,,The
former German soldier Ernst M. said he was in Fort Holstein, west of
Knigsberg at the end of February
1945. One day, a truck colony arrived, accompanied by several
zivilians, amongst them a woman called "Frau Doktor" (latest
investigations point to Dr. Renate Haars, born May 6, 1919, employee
of the conservator of East Prussia).
The zivillians slept in Holstein. Mr. Ernst heard from the
conversations, that the trucks contain artwork.
On the
next morning, the convoy continued to the port of Pillau.
Near the village Vierbrderkrug, the civilians had to unload two of
the three trucks and leave them to a military division for an
important transport of a wounded. The boxes had been burried in the
forest within little depth. Ernst M. remembered very well, where this
place was.
However,
it seems like they had been removed again because no trace of them has
been found despite an intensice searching...
